Time for MY Retirement

by Rick Williams

 [I sent this out in my farewell email when I retired from Boeing this past May 31st]

I've worked many years;
in lots of great places.
I've met lots of great people;
with smiles on their faces!

I've changed car motor oil,
sold cookbooks door to door;
I've always done whatever it took
to pay my bills and more.

I've washed cars at a dealership,
I've delivered fine foods;
spent years in a machine shop,
and was a newspaper dude.

My first time on the Boeing team
crash-ended with a layoff.
So I worked elsewhere for 10 years
before returning for the payoff.

The first day back I wandered, lost;
but finally found my crew.
I walked in the door and looked around
and saw people there I knew!

Now, many years later
My memory is waning
I’ve watched as other people left
And managed no complaining.

Now it’s finally my turn,
and out the door I go.
It’s been quite a interesting ride
and I’ve got a lot to show.

I’ve made a lot of friendships here,
and I’ve learned a lot of things.
I wish you all the very best
in what your future brings!
